Remember when hair gel was a thing? All those glossy, crunchy peaks that would melt as soon as you walked out into the sunshine, toxic rivulets of chemicals running down into your eyes? Thank God those days are gone, replaced with product like Jack the Snipper’s Styling Creme.
Having stood behind the barber chair for over 25 years, Paul Macnamara, the guy behind JTS, had never found a go-to product, so he decide to make his own. Made in Australia with a natural wax base, it’s really easy to apply and rinses out with water, which Macnamara says is what guys want at the moment.
We trialled some of the stuff and found that best of all was the smell. “Ah, yes, the scent,” says Macnamara. “That was derived from a really traditional barber’s aftershave. Youngsters says it smells like bubblegum, whereas old fellas say it’s something comforting and familiar.”
